We all want to succeed. And one path to success is identifying the habits that can help us on our journey.

PC: Atomic Habits

You have to take that small step and be consistent on that. Maybe at first you will not get the result and feel like discontinuing it. That is the time my friend, you have to hold on to yourself and say no I am not going to quit and push yourself a little harder and you will get to see the result gradually. Actually, it works like an exponential curve.

When I decided I will become more organized in my life I noticed what is my procrastination and how can I get away with it.

Here are a few things I start following:

  1. Wake up Early in the Morning.
  2. Stop using the phone after just waking up. Instead, do prayers + meditate(if new do 5 minutes of guided meditation)+ show gratitude to the universe.
  3. Go a for morning walk/gym/do a home workout.
  4. Solve any puzzle like Sudoku
  5. Listen to any motivational quotes or book summaries or youtube videos of your favorite Youtuber.
  6. Read any book. At least for 10 minutes or two pages. This way you can build up your reading habits.
  7. Then start doing your daily chores like going to the office, having food and etc.

You will definitely see the difference you will become more organized.

Keystone habits:

A habit of checking email first thing in the morning may or may not be beneficial to you, but it doesn’t really affect other areas of your life, such as your well-being or personal relationships. Similarly, a habit of turning to Netflix every night at 8 pm probably doesn’t have far-reaching beneficial effects.

Just what makes a habit a keystone habit, then? Charles Duhigg, author of The Power of Habit, explains that keystone habits change more than just our behavior — they change how we see ourselves:

When researchers look at how people change their habitual behaviors, they find when some changes occur, it seems to set off a chain reaction that causes other patterns to change as well.

The power of a keystone habit draws from its ability to change your self-image.

Exercising regularly is a habit many of us want to build to get stronger, look better, and stay healthy. For many, people this is a keystone habit, because when they exercise regularly, they also make healthier eating choices, procrastinate less, wash their dishes earlier, and even use their credit cards less! Exercising regularly seems to be an ordinary habit, just like flossing daily or hitting inbox zero before leaving work for the day. It’s the cascading effect it has on other areas of your life that makes exercise a keystone habit.

When you build a habit of exercising every day, apart from improving your health and fitness, you’re also creating a new self-image — one of a person who exercises regularly or, perhaps even more broadly, of a healthy person.

By starting with an action that encourages the self-image we want to have, we subconsciously encourage ourselves to reinforce that new self-image with other behaviors.

How do I find my keystone habits?

You can do this by keeping a list of “small wins” throughout your day and, at the end of the week, seeing which ones repeated the most — and made you feel good for the longest time afterward. Those are your keystone habits.

Here are 8 simple keystone habits that can change your lifestyle for the better.

  • Having family dinners. Family dinners can be enjoyable and productive.
  • Making your bed every morning.
  • Exercising regularly.
  • Tracking what you eat.
  • Developing daily routines.
  • Meditating.
  • Planning out your days.
  • Having strong willpower.

“Not a day goes by that we can’t at least serve one other human being by making deposits of unconditional love.” -Stephen Covey

The real beauty of habits is that improvement in one habit synergistically increases our ability to improve the rest.
